Hi all my names James but most people call me frankie as my surname is franklin
I started DJ'in last year and have been dj'in in Malia, Greece this year and I have never really had a DJ name but people keept asking me what it is so I said DJ Frankie but I'm not sure if I want to use this as my dj name as Im sure lots of DJ's use that name allready so was just wondering before I bore you to death
What is your DJ name and how did you get it?
Not sure if this has been posted before but searched and couldnt find it
I am not a DJ; so i don't have a name.
But when i become one (i will!)
I am thinking of DJ Alown (or Alone, said the same way) or DJ Crysis.
alown is the name i use in MMOs and other video games. And crysis is a video game.
I have a lot of names for different genres of music. It really depends on the style. If you want something more professional, use your own name and DON'T put "dj" in front of it.
Hey peeps. Ahh, you'll find that in time... no matter how original a nickname may sound... someone else already has it - or soon will have it.
Nobody can take away your given name. If you're good at what you do, be proud of it and don't hide.
I say this because over the man years I've been playing, I've had varoius nicknames and sooner than later, it would be one name (a.k.a. another name) and on and on it went. Of course - I found other DJ's wit the same name name and obvious changes in spelling. It's going to happen to nearly anyone.
Least likely to happen when you use your own name (I agree with you, adambomb). Plus - (in my own opinion), I think it sounds much more classy.
The "Well Known" dj's with nicknames established themselves WAYYY back. Cmoing up with something "new and original" is more difficult than you think!
Just opinions, my friends... just the thought of one, single dj who's been through it.
Hey... if push comes to shove... you can always use your "b-boy" name. hahaha...
(First letter of first name - first three letters of last name) - go ahead... sound it out. It's kinda fun.
i cant be bothered with having an alias although some are rather cool. id probably have one and then some other numpty would turn up with the same name. . .
If you want something more professional, use your own name and DON'T put "dj" in front of it.
I can think of, ooh, literally hundreds upon hundreds of successful DJ's that have had DJ in their name.
I tend to use "DJShadesUK" on the internet just as an identifier because it states my DJ name and what I do (and obviously doesn't reveal my real name). The "UK" part comes from the fact there is another DJ "Shades" from the U.S.A (who's fairly prolific on the internet) so I tagged the UK onto my name just to differentiate between us.
Anyways, I got my name because I worked in the same nightclub for about 5 years wearing shades (sunglasses) every night (although I used to wear them all the time too!). You may think I must have looked a bit of a tw*t, and indeed I probably did, but for some unfathomable reason it seemed to do something to the ladies! Never before (or since) have I been given sooooo many telephone numbers by soooo many hotties! I then started seeing a girl (who worked on a bar in the same club) and she persuaded me to stop wearing them and when I did I stopped getting phone numbers. I recall her saying to me once that there was something about not being able to see my eyes and not being able to "read" me which she found intriguing. I'm guessing by her persuasion to stop wearing them thats what other other girls thought that too and so she wanted to put a stop to me getting those lovely ladies telephone numbers (which incidentally, when I started seeing my then girlfriend, I put straight into the bin anyway!)
names are tricky, espescially if you get stuck with a s**t one, like i did,
SamKillsBoredom is a tad lame,
but its not that bad as you can always have another alias for a new name e.g. Haynes is about break on the scene.
But yeah i prefer names without dj in front of it, and i would say pick something that represents you and possibly your style. E.g. Drum and Bass djs have a sort style in the their names Hype, Dillinja, (short sharp) then the liquid dnb logistics, high contrast have a more smooth and complex sound.
My dj name is "DJ Aden", my last name. It was cool until everyone started naming their kids Caiden, Braiden, Jayden and Aiden. Before then, Aden was just a gulf in the Middle East. I need a new dj name.
mines simple butrecently found out its taken by sum canadian lolz dj hoodzy coz i hate sunlight so i always wear a hoodie im changing to dj catlyx soon tho (if anyone niks it al be reeeeeellliiii pissed off)
