Turntables!!!!
I don't know if I would consider it more difficult, definitely takes more skill, that's for sure. However, learning a new program and stuff is hard at first but then once you get it, its not that bad. I've mixed on computers and I can honestly say that I don't understand how some people can get that same "Joy". I definitely don't enjoy mixing on computers as much as I do Vinyl. Cd's are ok, but I don't even like them that much. |

| Turntables without question. I'm relatively inexperienced with Ableton and have only warped about 50-60 records for mixing but can already turn out mix CD quality mixes. Never used a turntable and the thought scares me a touch (so much can go wrong or run at the wrong speed or get away from you). Would use a CDJ though. |

| Tables are probably harder in the long run, but computers require a lot of homework with warping your tracks (time-stretching) in order for them to ever play synced up properly. Most likely if you try playing tracks that arent warped, youll end up with trainwrecks that you cant nudge accurately. |

| For me tables are easier, that's what I learned on, I'm tryin' the CPU thing using VDJ....it's just not the same. |

I don't think DJs who use computers are hacks necessarily - you can do a LOT more in terms of actual live remixing on a computer than you can on two turntables. |

I respect that.
i do both actually - I use two turntables and a laptop for serato/virtual dj, and then I use another computer with ableton as a sampler... you can basically mix some crazy s**t live like that |

I'm old school too and have always felt that computer mixing is cheating but it seems like I'm in the minority these days.
I've used Ableton but it's not as much fun for me as mixing on decks/CDJs.
Digweed and Cattaneo use Ableton to produce their mix CDs and radio shows, but use CDJs when they play clubs. This seems like the best approach to me. |

Im mixing on decks using Serato, which is kinda cheating, no switching of vinyls...
Want to get ALOT better before I start playing out, plus want to record so using a computer as well helps.  |

I use Serato with CDJ 1000's, when im deejayin live i like to focus more on the songs im playing and the crowd feedback on the dance floor....as far as heavy remxing like mashups or even pre recorded mixes, i use acid with effects and all......
They both are very useful, depending upon what u trying to do.

| I think that computer mixing is harder. This might sound corney, but I feel like you become one with your records, and setup. After a while everything just flows. With a computer, you can't go off of feel and if you use an auto beat mapper, it gives you a false count. Also, if you deal with songs that have not been quantized in the studio, you cant just use speed it up or slow it down like with tables. |
